A friend was visiting Fukuoka. The traditional souvenirs in Japan are food, as every region in Japan has their specialty food. A lot of them involve mochi, the gummy cakes usually made of rice, but also occasionally made of kudzu root. Souvenir food is always individually wrapped, so you can give them out to everyone in your work group, or among your friends.
One of the best ways to enjoy mochi, in my so humble opinion, is with kinako powder and kuromitsu, a kind of syrup that is like a thin molasses.

Small, but delicious.
