I Want My Mummy

Bunkamura The Museum was running an Ancient Egyptian exhibit. Definitely not something my small hometown would ever see.

Of course photography wasn’t allowed inside, which was a kind of a nice change of pace from the usual clog of selfie-takers. The atmosphere was much more sombre, and gradually it sank in that I was standing beside bodies and artefacts that were thousands of years old. The preservation of them and the details were unbelievable. It’s no wonder that ancient Egypt continues to captivate.

Not to say that there were no opportunities for selfies. Outside of the museum itself were life-sized standees.

And of course a gift shop with all the omiyage you could want.

With the most Japanese of all gifts, Sanrio characters in ancient Egyptian dress.
