I don’t look forward to Japanese summers. From October until May Tokyo is generally pleasant, at least for me. (Northern blood.) In June the rainy season sets in, and then it somehow gets worse. Suffocating, sweltering, sweat dripping down the back when you’re waiting for the train heat. Wait to go running until 10PM and it’s still hot heat. If AC can be considered a luxury, then it’s the luxury I let myself indulge in. I genuinely don’t understand how people can cheerfully go out in such weather.
It’s currently rainy and cold, but I refuse to begrudge it. In a few months I’ll be lurking in convenience stores, pretending to choose ice cream while absorbing the cool coming out of the freezers.
That said, this picture makes the weather look nice, if a little wistful.
