The hum was gone, and the stars. She looked down. A white line stretched out at her feet. Beyond it the dark had swallowed the world.
Her name. Her…someone.
The featureless dark pressed down. She knelt beneath its weight. The rough surface of the road caught at her fingers, grit shifting, nipping at her skin. It sparked across her mind, tiny and small. She ground her hand down, sighing at the sensation.
Then it began to melt away, becoming smooth. Featureless. The white line began to shrink.
